Theodore Roosevelt, the 26th President of the United States from 1885 until his death in 1919, made his home at Sagamore Hill in Oyster Bay, New York. Known for its history and scenic beauty, buffs will enjoy the Roosevelt Museum at Old Orchard, which features films and exhibits about the president. Sagamore Hill served as Roosevelt's Summer White House from 1902 until 1908, during that period Roosevelt used his home to host dignitaries from around the country and the world.

Parking at Sagamore Hill
The National Park Service says that most people prefer to drive to Sagamore Hill, either in their own vehicles or in a rented one. There is free parking onsite.

Best and Worst time to go to Sagamore Hill
From early fall to late spring, Sagamore Hill is open from Wednesday through Sunday each week, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Mondays & Tuesdays. During June, July & August, the site is open every day. Visiting in the fall is likely best since the summer months are usually busiest.

Admission to Sagamore Hill
General admission to Sagamore Hill is free. The only charge is a $5 fee to take a tour of President Roosevelt's home. Other activities, including guided Ranger walks and hikes down the nature trail to Cold Spring Harbor are all free.

Must see/do at Sagamore Hill
Nature enthusiasts will enjoy exploration of the site's 83 acres of forest containing salt marshes, meadows and beach home to birds, mammals, and insects. Numerous paths and a vibrant nature trail are must-sees.
