Dr. Ibrahim Hussain is an accomplished neurosurgeon with advanced fellowship training in endoscopic, minimally invasive, and complex reconstructive spine surgery. He treats patients with the full spectrum of spinal disorders, including those with disc herniations, age-related degenerative arthritis, fractures, spinal cord injury, infections, primary and metastatic spinal cord tumors, congenital anomalies, and scoliosis. A significant portion of his practice is devoted to revision surgeries in those who have had prior spine surgery, and those with peripheral nerve problems such as tumors and compressive neuropathies. Having trained with pioneers of spine surgery at some of the top neurosurgical institutions in the world, Dr. Hussain uses and is involved in the development of state-of-the-art intraoperative technologies that aim to make surgeries safer and less invasive, including three-dimensional computer-assisted navigation, endoscopy, robotics, and augmented reality. He has special interest in performing outpatient and “awake” spine surgeries when appropriate for patients, which aim to get patients home faster and without the negative effects of general anesthesia. Dr. Hussain strives to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to his patients and works with them and their families to provide the optimal solution to their medical problems, both inside and outside the operating room. Leveraging the internationally recognized faculty at Weill Cornell-NewYork Presbyterian, he works within a multi-specialist team that includes pain management doctors, neurologists, rehab doctors, physical therapists, oncologists, endocrinologists, and nutritionists to provide a safe, timely, and focused treatment plan custom-designed for each patient. Dr. Hussain is also committed to advancing the field of spine surgery through other avenues. He is actively engaged in biomedical research (more below), and the surgical education and training of Weill Cornell Medical College students, residents, and international fellows. He has published more than 25 book chapters in neurosurgical textbooks used by trainees and surgeons around the world. Additionally, Dr. Hussain has partnered with a number of biotechnology companies, providing expertise for the innovation of next-generation molecular treatments and medical device engineering in spinal surgery.

Dr. Babak Sadoughi is a nationally known specialist of voice disorders. He is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at Weill Cornell Medical College, and an Assistant Attending Otolaryngologist at NewYork-Presbyterian HospitalA fellowship-trained laryngologist serving as a full-time faculty member at the Sean Parker Institute or the Voice, Dr. Sadoughi has advanced expertise in the care of all disorders of the larynx (“voice box”), encompassing voice medicine and surgery for professional vocal performers, treatment of benign, malignant and paralytic diseases of the larynx, voice restoration after injury or surgery, and airway and swallowing rehabilitation surgery. He also specializes in the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of adult otolaryngologic and head and neck diseases. Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Sadoughi was the Director of Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Restoration services at Beth Israel Medical Center, as well as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is also a former faculty member of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Sadoughi grew up in Paris, France and graduated summa cum laude from the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine of Sorbonne University. His postgraduate training in otolaryngology began at the Paris-Descartes University, with a special emphasis on head and neck surgical oncology. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Sadoughi completed residency training in otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he also served for several years as a Research Associate and Project Coordinator for the Montefiore Otolaryngology Surgical Simulation Center. He subsequently pursued fellowship training in Laryngology and Neurolaryngology at the New York Center for Voice and Swallowing Disorders, under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Blitzer. Dr. Sadoughi is an active clinician, educator and researcher, has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters, and has presented his scholarly work nationally and internationally. His clinical and research interests include organ preservation in laryngeal cancer, care of the professional voice, minimally invasive surgery of the larynx, and neural modulation of laryngeal function. He is the recipient of numerous accolades and awards, including the Maxwell Abramson Memorial Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service, awarded to him by the graduate otolaryngology staff of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Sadoughi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and a member of the American Laryngological Association, the American Broncho-Esophagological Association, and the Triological Society.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Witkin attended Penn State University’s Schreyer Honors College, where she earned a B.S. in engineering science, magna cum laude, with honors in bioengineering. She earned her M.D. at Johns Hopkins University and then completed a general surgery internship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following her internship, Dr. Witkin completed an anesthesiology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed a pain management fellowship at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Tri-Institutional Fellowship Program (Weill Cornell Medical College, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center).Committed to patient care, Dr. Witkin's clinical interests encompass a wide range of pain conditions. Some of her specialties include acute and chronic post-surgical pain, neck and spine disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, cancer-related pain, neuropathic pain, and chronic regional pain syndrome. Her treatment goal is to utilize a multi-modal approach which is customized to each patient. This approach alleviates a patient's pain and suffering in order to improve physical and mental functioning as well as overall quality of life. This may include initiating and optimizing medications, physical and occupational therapy, behavioral medicine techniques, and minimally-invasive fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided interventional therapies. More advanced interventions including spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal pump therapy may also be offered when indicated.Dr. Witkin practices evidence-based medicine and uses a multidisciplinary approach in collaboration with Neurosurgery, Neurology, Orthopedic Surgery, Psychiatry, Rehabilitative Medicine, and complimentary and alternative medical specialists. Active not only in patient care but also in research, she has numerous publications and presentations to her credit. She is also an active member of many national anesthesia and pain organizations including: Eastern Pain Association (EPA), American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA), New York State Society of Anesthesiologists (NYSSA), American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA), North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS), and New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (NYSIPP).
