Orwashers is a New York City institution. Founded in 1916 by a Hungarian family, the bakery began as a small storefront in the UES. It was borne out of a desire to serve the local immigrant community and focused on high quality rye, black, and grain breads that reflected their homeland traditions.

Staff was joking around not paying attention to customers. I ordered a sandwich at around 3pm. Was sick the next day with GI issues.

Love the ambiance in this cold weather. Almond croissant I lined for it twice. The pistachio one is ok.
