The Oswego County Department of Social Services provides economic, medical and rehabilitative assistance to the residents of Oswego County, N.Y. It offers a range of children support services, such as locating absent parents, medical support enforcement and paternity establishment. The department also provides care services to eligible children. It conducts workshops on several topics, including computer and interviewing skills, resume writing and job hunting. The department offers the Food Stamp program, which is administered by the Department of Agriculture and issues monthly benefits that are redeemable at authorized retail food stores. It also offers a federally funded home energy assistance program that assists residents by paying for electricity, gas, oil, coal, propane, wood and kerosene.
