Conrad B Blum, MD

Conrad B. Blum, MD, is Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. His practice focuses both on his area of specialization (endocrinology and metabolic diseases, particularly disorders of cholesterol and triglyceride, thyroid diseases, and diabetes) and general internal medicine. He received his BS and MD degrees at Northwestern University, where he was enrolled in the prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education and was selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He subsequently had a medical internship at Columbia University Medical Center and a residency in internal medicine at Harvard Universitys Peter Bent Brigham Hospital (now renamed as Brigham and Womens Hospital) in Boston. He was a fellow in endocrinology at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago. He developed a high level of expertise in management of lipid disorders during three years of research and clinical training in the metabolic diseases laboratory of the National Institutes of Health. He is board certified in internal medicine and in the specialty of endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. From 2008-2013, Dr. Blum was a member of the NIH Expert Panel on Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Cholesterol in Adults. He subsequently was a member of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Task Force on Treatment of Blood Cholesterol. This task force prepared the current national guidelines for treatment of cholesterol. Dr. Blum has authored or co-authored more than 80 publications. These have largely focused on the clinical management, physiology, and biochemistry of disorders of cholesterol and triglyceride. His publications have also dealt with thyroid disease and lead exposure. Dr. Blums publications have appeared in some of the worlds most prestigious medical and scientific journals including: the New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI). He served for 11 years as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Lipid Research. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the New York affiliate of the American Heart Association. He is a member of the Endocrine Society and a Fellow of the American Heart Association. Dr. Blums teaching activities include seven years as director of the endocrinology clerkship for fourth-year medical students at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. For more than 25 years, he lectured on disorders of cholesterol and triglyceride to the second- and third-year medical school classes at Columbia. He was granted a Ewig Clinical Scholar Award 2011-2012 for outstanding teaching in the Department of Medicine, Columbia University Medical Center. The book he co-authored with Dr. Neil Stone, entitled Management of Lipids in Clinical Practice, has been used by the National Lipid Association as a companion to its curriculum. Dr. Blum was awarded the 2010 Gold DOC award by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation; this award recognizes "sensitivity, kindness, and compassion in the practice of medicine." He has been listed multiple times in the Castle Connolly annual lists of Americas top doctors and New Yorks top doctors.

Dr. Tracey Isidro is a Sports Medicine and non-interventional spine physician in the Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Isidro is double-boarded in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and completed her sports medicine fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medicine. After graduating from Rice University for college, she attended medical school at The University of Texas Medical Branch where she was Vice President of her class and an Interprofessional Scholar. She did an internship in Internal Medicine at Baylor Scott & White and is now board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) upon completing residency at the #7 program Baylor College of Medicine and working at the #2 U.S. News and World Report rehabilitation hospital TIRR Memorial Hermann. Dr. Isidro was recently awarded Top Doctor's Women in Medicine Award for being a Top Sports Medicine doctor in New York. Dr. Isidro treats and manages multiple sports and musculoskeletal conditions, uses diagnostic ultrasound as an extension of her physical exam, and performs a variety of ultrasound-guided joint injections. She incorporates active listening with a multi-disciplinary, holistic, and non-operative approach where she teaches her patients about their condition and empowers them to take an active role in their health. While at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Isidro was the only trainee to receive the 2021 Women of Excellence Award for her contributions related to developing a leadership curriculum for women physiatrists. Further, she held leadership roles with AAP and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) and was the only resident in the nation from 2018-2019 to serve on the trainee councils of both national organizations. She pioneered the AAP Words of Wellness Podcast Series that has been listened to close to 6,000 times. Also, Dr. Tracey Isidro and her twin sister Dr. Stacey Isidro have spoken nationally and written on topics including tips on how to be happy, healthy, and successful and recently gave a talk at AAPM&R on Lifestyle Medicine. Moreover, she is dedicated to supporting the upcoming generation of physicians through PM&R and sports medicine workshops, lectures, and mentorship for career development as an active member of AAPM&R, AAP, and the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM).
