Founded in 1917 and located in Buffalo, N.Y., the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo & Erie County is a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for girls and women between the ages of 5 and 17. It conducts workshops on topics related to personal safety, career, money management, substance abuse, family life and environmental problems. In addition, the organization provides a range of activities for the development of cooperation, teamwork and leadership skills. It also offers several opportunities for girls to attend national and international conferences and participate in career-related seminars. The organization provides day and resident camp programs that include a variety of recreational activities, such as horseback riding, swimming, boating, field trips, and arts and crafts. It also offers training programs for Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts.

In operation for more than 150 years, YMCA is one of the largest, nonprofit community service organizations in United States. It provides a variety of programs for children, adults, couples, senior citizens and families. The organization offers swimming lessons, as well as water fitness programs. It provides day camp and preschool options for children. The organization offers breakfast and lunch services daily. YMCA also provides transportation options for before- and after-school programs. The organization offers indoor group cycling and first-aid certification classes. It provides personal nutrition coaching and diabetes awareness and prevention programs. In addition, the organization offers nursery services. It operates summer recreational programs that provide opportunities to participate in several activities, such as games, sports, and arts and crafts.
