Elan L. Goldwaser, DO, is a sports medicine physician specializing in the non-operative management of complex musculoskeletal conditions affecting athletic participation, including chronic and acute injuries affecting the bones, joints, and muscles of pediatric and adult patients. Dr. Goldwaser’s training as an osteopathic physician provides additional treatment approaches to promote healing through a variety of options and tailored patient care. As an experienced team physician to high school, collegiate, and professional athletes, Dr. Goldwaser is accustomed to treating injuries sustained in the acute setting of sporting events including: management of concussions, tendon injuries, and leg somatic dysfunctions (including Achilles/Patellar tendonitis). As a former cross-country, track and field, and swimming collegiate athlete, Dr. Goldwaser understands the athlete’s need to return to sport and is dedicated to helping people of all levels achieve this. He attended The College of New Jersey where he completed his Bachelor’s in Biology, and later went on to Rowan-SOM for medical school and residency. Before coming to Columbia Orthopedics, Dr. Goldwaser completed a sports medicine fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA, honing skills in ultrasound diagnostics and minimally invasive sports medicine interventional procedures. Dr. Goldwaser’s research spans multiple specialties which include: concussion management, prevention and recovery, biologic injections in injury recovery, and exploring healing rates after ultrasound-guided procedural interventions. When time allows, he enjoys running marathons, traveling, and playing Scrabble with his family.
