Dr. Oliveira is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medicine and a member of the Weill Cornell Ophthalmology Department who specializes in Neuro-OphthalmologyDr. Oliveira attended medical school at the Minas Gerais Federal University (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais) in his native Brazil. He completed his Ophthalmology residency and Glaucoma fellowship at São Geraldo Hospital, Minas Gerais Federal University.His international career continued in New York where he completed a 2-year Glaucoma research fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Ritch. The fellowship was followed by Neurology residency at North Shore and Long Island Jewish Hospitals. Among his many achievements he had the privilege to be elected as one of the chief residents.Dr. Oliveira spent his final year of training at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, where he completed a Neuro-Ophthalmology fellowship under the mentorship of Drs. Joseph Rizzo and Simmons Lessell.

David C. Ritterband MD, FACS is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Prior to joining Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH)/Northwell Eye Institute, he was a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt Sinai and System Director of the Refractive Surgery Service for the Mount Sinai Health System. At MEETH he has assumed leadership of the Refractive Surgery division and the Laser Vision Correction Center and sees patients at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital on 64th Street. Dr. Ritterband is a graduate of Duke University and received his medical degree at New York Medical College where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at New York Medical College where he was elected Chief Resident. He completed his Corneal and External disease and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Eye and Ear Institute. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He is a past president of the Ocular Microbiology and Immunology Group and a long time Medical Board member of the Eye Bank for Sight Restoration in New York City, the world's first Eye Bank. In addition to maintaining a busy tertiary-care referral practice in New York City, Dr. Ritterband is a nationally recognized physician, scientist, and surgeon. He has published over 250 medical and scientific papers, book chapters, monographs, and research abstracts. He has lectured widely in the United States on cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery topics. His clinical and research interests include cornea transplantation, cataract surgery, ocular drug development, laser refractive surgery, and ocular infections. A committed teacher and mentor, he has trained over 50 clinical cornea fellows first at the highly regarded AUPO certified corneal fellowship program at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and continuing with the current AUPO corneal fellowship program at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Ritterband has received numerous awards including an Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been named multiple times to New York Magazine's Best Doctors, Castle Connolly's Top Doctors, and the NY Times Magazine's Super Doctors. In addition, while at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary he received 6 Resident Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service Awards.
