Ceres occupies 2000 square feet of premier space in a destination building in Chelsea allowing us to showcase a variety of artistic endeavors and providing a stellar space for our member shows. Director, Stefany Benson, organizes our Exposure exhibitions continuing Ceres ' artistic outreach by inviting artists to participate in a mix of one person shows within a group exhibition. Last year we extended this opportunity to 50 artists from diverse backgrounds resulting in five weeks of outstanding shows.This season we will have our Ninth National Juried Exhibition with Lowery Sims, Curator at the Museum of Art and Design, as our juror. Ms. Sims also juried our First Juried Exhibition eighteen years ago. Artists from every state and from varied backgrounds and experience are encouraged to enter this exhibition.Programming includes a lecture/slide show with Mimi Smith during Women's History Month and readings by "Poets for Choice." The Friends of Ceres show is a wonderful month-long group show, presenting the work of artists who generously support Ceres. Ceres artist members meet monthly, discussing current exhibitions, encouraging and strengthening both the individual and the group. We are instiuting an Artists' Critique for our members. We create in every medium: sculpture, drawing and painting, collage, photography, print-making, installation, and video. New member candidates are welcome.Ceres would especially like to thank the visitors who attend our exhibitions and programs. Thoughtful and interested viewers are what make art galleries thrive.
