Carolyn Thai, DO is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where she is the Program Director of the Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship program. Dr. Thai completed her internship at Yale University School of Medicine, anesthesiology residency at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, and fellowship in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She specializes in ultrasound guided peripheral nerve blocks and perioperative pain management. In addition to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, her interests include patient safety and quality improvement. Dr. Thai is a member of the Patient Safety and Women Physicians sub-committees of the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists.

Faisal Shaikh, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Thoracic Surgery Section. After earning his medical degree at University of Tennessee, Dr. Shaikh completed his medical residency at Weill Cornell, where he developed an interest in pulmonary disease. Thereafter, he completed several advanced fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by interventional fellowship at the Harvard combined Beth Israel Deaconess and Massachusetts General Hospital program. Dr. Shaikh's clinical work focuses on performing minimally invasive bronchoscopy to provide our patients with effective diagnostic and therapeutic options for lung nodules, lung masses, and lung cancer. He has expertise in palliating benign and malignant airway obstruction as well as performing minimally invasive, single incision thoracoscopy. He has worked in a collaborative effort on developing Columbia's lung volume reduction program in order to provide patients with advanced treatment options in emphysema.
