In 1963, Gerald R. Brown established the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Canisteo. Jerry was a graduate of Canisteo Central School in 1959, the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in 1961. After completing his residency requirements in in Rochester NY, He returned to Canisteo to begin his funeral service career. Jerry was recently honored by the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service with the Distinguished Service Award, in recognition of his unselfish dedication and commitment to the community of funeral service.
