Located in Glenfield, N.Y., the Lewis County BOCES - Howard G. Sackett Technical Center is a part of Jefferson-Lewis BOCES, the board of cooperative educational services, which is a regional public education agency that functions in New York State as an extension of local school districts. It offers career and technical education. The board s educational communications center includes audiovisual equipment and graphic arts service departments and in-service workshops. It provides courses in a variety of fields, such as business, welding, mechanics, nursing, medicine, electronics, forestry, fashion design and building trades. It offers classes in cosmetology, carpentry, culinary arts, automotive technology and visual communications. The institute also provides an early childhood education program, which includes elementary education, liberal arts and human services. In addition, it offers adult education programs that include math, science and English. Howard G. Sackett Technical Center is a part of Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Herkimer-Oneida Board of Cooperative Educational Services, which operates more than 15 school districts.

Glenfield Elementary School is a coeducational institution that has a staff of nearly 20 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals that includes classroom teachers, reading specialists, school nurses, art and music professionals, and physical and health education instructors. It operates a library that provides a large collection of reference books, archives, biographies, encyclopedias, newspapers and magazines. Glenfield Elementary School also maintains a counseling department that works with the faculty, students and parents to facilitate academic success and personal development of the students. The school is a part of South Lewis Central School, which has a total enrollment of over 1,100 students in five schools. Located in Glenfield, N.Y., Glenfield Elementary School teaches more than 175 students in kindergarten through grade five.
