Big Chief School & Camp of East Meadow

Big Chief School Camp, based in East Meadow, N.Y., has been family-owned and operated since 1954. It is licensed by the Board of Education and is a member of the Long Island School and Camp Association. The camp provides a nursery school staff that is trained in early childhood education and is the counselor and supervisor for lower camp and midi-day programs. Campers are accepted between the ages of 3 and 12, and are offered a wide range of sporting activities that include soccer, softball, hockey, volleyball, basketball, handball, tennis and wiffle ball. It also has two swimming pools that are approved by the Board of Health and provide American Red Cross swimming instruction by certified water safety instructors. Big Chief s facility includes four air-conditioned buildings, a sports field and five age-appropriate playgrounds. The camp also offers special activities, such as arts and crafts, bowling, roller-skating, animal care, computer science, karaoke, gardening, cooking, rocketry, street games and drama.
