The New Mexico Higher Education Department, formerly known as the Department of Higher Education, develops and coordinates various policies, programs and services to provide advocacy and support for colleges in the state. The department works closely with other state agencies, such as the Public Education Department and the Legislative Education Study Committee, to coordinate statewide initiatives from pre-school through college.
