Before joining Summit Health, Shayamala Baskaran, MSPAS, PAC, practiced with LMG Family Practice in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, and Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Ms. Baskaran is a member of the American Association of Physician Assistants, Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants, and the Philadelphia University Physician Assistant Alumni Advisory Board.

Ms. Baskaran believes in preventive medicine and continuity of care for helping ensure her patients have healthy, long lives. She says, "I decided at a young age that I wanted to be involved in the field of medicine. Before attending school for my physician assistant studies, I volunteered in nursing homes and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). During that time, I met and worked with physician assistants and physicians who impressed me with their outstanding, compassionate care. The experience strengthened my resolve to become part of a medical team."

When she is not working with her patients, Ms. Baskaran enjoys traveling, cooking, baking, and wine tasting.
