Gibson Associates P.A ( then John C. Gibson and Associates ) was founded in 1973 by John C. Gibson, P.E. & L.S. Prior to starting this firm, "Jack" was county engineer from 1962 to 1970. He went on to be chief engineer of construction and maintenance for NJDOT from 1970 to 1972. After completing twelve years as a New Jersey State Assemblyman, Jack has retired but when requested, acts in an advisory capacity to the firm. The business was conveyed to Mark J. Gibson, P.L.S. in 1991. Mark J. Gibson continues to manage the firm on a day to day basis and strives to promote and maintain the high standards practiced throughout the firm's history. What started as a part time survey organization with two employees has grown to an organization of three professional engineers and two professional land surveyors who direct an additional ten professionally motivated technical staff. For our first 30 years of business we operated out of our office at 4211 Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City, N.J. In the fall of 2004, we moved into our new 6, 000 square foot office facility at 522 Sea Isle Boulevard in Ocean View, N.J. This office located between Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway at Exit 17 is centrally located to our area of practice. We continue to serve most of Cape May County for all size projects. Larger projects allow us to serve all of South Jersey. We specialize in road and small bridge design and all types of civil engineering as well as a broad range of structural engineering services including residential and commercial structural inspection and design. We also provide structural integrity bridge inspections for the NJDOT. Additionally we provide specialty services such as asphalt & concrete plant foundations, structural analysis and bulkhead designs. We are active in environmental permitting services to support project development including wetlands delineation, waterfront development permits, CAFRA permits, Pinelands services and others. Throughout our history we have provided construction inspection services to ensure to our many private and government sector clients that projects are built in conformance with the approved plans and specifications. Our construction inspection division also works collaboratively with our design staff to ensure that our designs are efficient, cost effective and consistent with current construction technology and methodology. We also have completed dozens of commercial site plans including strip malls, office complexes, banks, retail complexes, mining operations, campgrounds, marinas and many other types of commercial developments. We design residential and commercial sewer systems. We also have provided full permit procurement, design services and layout services for approximately 20 major residential subdivisions. We continue to provide professional land surveying services of all kinds from boundary surveys, title surveys, construction layout and support services for our design and environmental permitting projects. We have been in business for 35 years and our philosophy remains to provide quality, fair, communicative professional engineering, professional land surveying and associated ancillary services and to treat our clients as we would like to be treated.
