Banyan School is a private, nonprofit, state approved elementary and middle school for students with primary learning disabilities. These include dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, visual and spatial processing difficulties, auditory processing difficulties, speech and language difficulties, short-and long-term memory difficulties, reading comprehension and decoding difficulties, poor organizational and study skills and poor social skills. The curriculum focus of the school s program is to provide individualized instruction within a small group setting. Banyan s professionally trained staff uses multisensory methods and a wide range of instructional materials. Its students receive instruction in decoding, reading, language arts, writing, learning strategies, science and social studies. In addition, students receive social skills training, art, music, health and physical education. The school is located in Fairfield, N.J.

Garden Academy is a nonprofit organization established in 2004. It offers a range of educational programs for individuals afflicted with utism- and dementia-related disorders. The academy organizes various special events, such as golf outings, wine tasting and parties. It works to creates awareness, educate the general public and support research activities in the field of autism education. It conducts professional training sessions for staff members, as well as parents. The academy offers transitional services for students who move in to less restrictive environments. Garden Academy also promotes community awareness and understanding of autism, pervasive developmental disorders and appropriate interventions. The academy is located in West Orange, N.J.
