The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission ( MVPC ) is a regional planning agency providing professional planning services to fifteen communities in Northeastern Massachusetts. MVPC is one of thirteen regional planning agencies operating in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Communities of the MVPC region elect one Commissioner and one Alternate to attend monthly board meetings held at MVPC offices. Haverhill Bank came to life on Aug. 12, 1877 as Haverhill Cooperative Savings Fund and Loan Association. Seven days later, the commissioner of banks gave his approval and the second oldest cooperative bank in Massachusetts was official.
