As the daughter of a speech-language pathologist, I grew up going to stroke support groups. When I started my nursing career here on the neuroscience floor, I fell in love with the brain. I saw that people can have the same stroke but suffer from very different symptoms. Its that nursing background that allows me to understand patients in the context of their unique and complex lives. I address each individuals needs with compassion, providing the same level of care I would give a loved one. My patients should feel safe, heard and understood.
