As a family nurse practitioner, I care for people with different personal and medical backgrounds. Despite their differences, I always notice that patients have more in common than not. Trauma-informed care has greatly shaped who I am and my role in caring for all people. We are all unique individuals who experience highs and lows in our lives and sometimes need a little help. My job lets me develop relationships with patients. I like that I can help them with everything from small scuffs to big surgeries or scary diagnoses. I focus on understanding my patients' concerns and supporting them by providing quality, evidence-based care. I serve as Cheshire Medical Center's program coordinator for the medical forensic team. I am also a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE-A). Our team of registered nurses and nurse practitioners has special training to care for patients who have experienced assault and abuse. We provide medical treatment, care options, support, and resources for survivors of violence. I am a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and the Association for Size Diversity and Health. When I am not at work, I find any excuse to be outside. If I'm not gardening, I'm probably off exploring new trails with my family and my dog, Pete.
