I entered the field of multiple sclerosis (MS) and neuroimmunology because the complexity of these conditions and the care they require appeal to me. People with MS have varied symptoms and are at different phases of their life at diagnosis and throughout their life. These factors require a patient-specific approach to choosing disease modifying therapies and identifying symptomatic treatments. I like to establish a working relationship with each of my patients so that we can have open discussions about their condition. I use evidence-based medicine practices to help diagnose, counsel and treat my patients. I also like to talk with my patients about clinical research that has been done for MS and neuroimmunology. We are learning more all the time. By educating patients about their diagnosis and treatment options, and by including them in shared treatment decisions based on their particular circumstances, we work together to help them maintain or improve their functional abilities throughout their life.

When my youngest sibling was 9 and I was in medical school, my mother died of colorectal cancer. She was 53. It was then that I realized how beneficial improved cancer care could befor both patients and their families. Now, as a radiation oncologist, my team and I provide compassionate, complete cancer care. My goal is to return patients to the life they enjoyed before their cancer diagnosis. I treat sarcomas, which mostly appear in the extremities, so when patients regain function in their treated arms or legs, Im satisfied. Curing patients is remarkably gratifying.

My goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive orthopaedic care to every one of my patients. As a former athlete, I understand the importance of movement and mobility to each person’s physical and mental well-being. It’s gratifying to see patients heal and recover. Whether it means getting back to work, gardening, or competitive sports, my goal is to help patients return to the life they enjoy. I view my patients as partners in their own care. I encourage them to actively participate in creating a treatment plan to achieve their goals.
