The Mustard Seed was started in 1978 in Missoula, Montana by a group of friends and family. Included in that group were Betty and Nancy Tokumoto and Betty's husband, David Hall, who still is active in the company today. Betty and Nancy grew up in Okinawa, Bangkok, and Hawaii and attended college in Oregon, so they have the unique ability of blending the cooking styles of the Far East with the tastes of the Pacific Northwest.
