We would be honored for you to worship with us at the following services: The congregation of First Lutheran is a welcoming community of faith that strengthens people in their commitment to the Lord and supports them in sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others. First Lutheran came to life in 1870 when about two dozen Swedish Lutherans met on a Sunday afternoon in Kansas City to establish the First Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Congregation. Since then, the congregation has worshiped in four different sanctuaries, had two dozen pastors, assistant pastors and vice pastors and uncountable members and visitors, all from different backgrounds. Our current location in Mission Hills has been our home since 1957. First Lutheran Church is one of the 11, 000 congregations in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ( ELCA ). Our congregation is part of the Central States Synod, which consists of approximately 220 congregations across Kansas and Missouri. We rejoice that our paths have crossed in our journeys of faith.
