Terry Grove Missionary Baptist Church is the oldest African American Church in the Terry area, founded in 1865, and is a candidate for the National Register of Historic Places. It has played a significant role in the community, with all other African American churches in Terry descending from Terry Grove Church.
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, located near the town's former water tower, served as a hospital during the Civil War and holds a grave belonging to Clara Ayer, a 6-year-old girl who tragically died during the yellow fever epidemic in 1865. The church and its present congregation lovingly tend to Clara's grave.
