Established in the early 1960s, it played a crucial role in conducting research, development, and certification testing on non-flight engines to improve engine design and ensure the reliability of flight engines, such as the Saturn V rocket used in the Apollo program. The complex consists of two test areas, A and B, each equipped with test stands, technical facilities, and ground support equipment necessary for controlling and firing engines or stages. The B Test Complex supported ground testing for the S-1C stage of the Saturn V rocket, while the A Test Complex performed ground testing for the S-11 stage.
