Founded in 1979, Mississippi Market is a full-service supermarket. Mississippi Market is a cooperative enterprise, which is democratically controlled by people who have a direct stake in it. Most of Mississippi Market s member-owners are people who live and work close to one of its two stores located in St. Paul, Minn. Its stores offer local and artisan foods and a selection of natural health and body care products, including vitamins, supplements, and homeopathic and herbal remedies. Mississippi Market offers a variety of meat, dairy products, general merchandise, bakery items, and organic and natural food. Its organic inspections and certifications are conducted by the Midwest Organic Services Association, which is accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture.
