Founded in 2002, Detroit Merit Charter Academy is a member of the National Heritage Academies and chartered by Grand Valley State University. It serves more than 650 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Detroit Merit Charter Academy promotes students intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth through various instructional techniques. The school teaches various subjects, including math, social studies, English, computer science, music and physical education. The school s extracurricular activities include basketball, cheerleading, scouts, soccer, safety patrol, music and band programs and student publication.
