The Detroit Transportation Corporation provides rail transportation services for the City of Detroit, Mich., that augment pedestrian travel and support private and public transportation. The company is the owner and operator of the Detroit People Mover, a fully automated light-rail system that operates on an elevated single-track loop in Detroit's central business district. Detroit People Mover provides connections between the courts and administrative offices of several levels of government, sports arenas, exhibition centers, hotels, and commercial, banking and retail districts. The Detroit Transportation Corporation has a fleet of more than 10 driverless vehicles that are computer controlled and powered by a linear induction motor. Detroit Transportation Corporation maintains its headquarters in Detroit.

It's a nice way to make a small loop around downtown to some popular spots. There were a lot of people riding this weekend because of Autorama. By far, the most people I've seen ride at once...

We love riding the people mover. It's not a luxury ride, but you can see downtown Detroit, the Detroit River and Canada. It was free when we went. But usually is about 75 cents. I'd recommend it....
