Matt Rooyakker, CPA Matt is the managing member and co-founder of Rooyakker & Sitz, PLLC. During Matt's many years in public accounting he has worked hard to develop an expertise in accounting and tax services in the construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, and hospitality industries. Matt and his family have been longtime residents of Gaylord and Northern Michigan. Matt graduated from St. Mary's High School and received his bachelor's of science degree in professional accounting from Alma College. During Matt's academic years, he worked at his family's small restaurant business where he developed a keen sense of the hardships and struggles that go into operating and running a business. During this period of time, Matt witnessed first hand the challenges facing small business, and the determination of small business owners to be successful and provide for their families. After graduating from Alma College, Matt joined a regional accounting firm were he gained expertise in accounting, auditing, and tax related services. It was during this period of time that Matt realized the inability of large accounting firms to provide expert and affordable tax and accounting services to small businesses ( services that these businesses needed desperately ). After several years at the regional firm Matt decided that the personal rewards would be far greater by leaving, and establishing a practice to serve small and mid-sized businesses, providing the expertise from the larger regional firm to clients that could not otherwise obtain them and one half of Rooyakker & Sitz, PLLC was born. Mike is the tax director and co-founder of Rooyakker & Sitz, PLLC. During Mike's many years in public accounting he has worked hard to develop an expertise in effective tax planning that has resulted in total tax savings to his clients surpassing the multi-million dollar range. From the simplest issues to the most complex tax problems, Mike can find a solution that works for you. Mike and his family have been longtime patrons of Gaylord and Northern Michigan. Mike has spent most of his spare time enjoying fishing on the many lakes in the area such as Otsego, Big Bear, West Twin, and Fletcher's that all of us have enjoyed over the years.
