Myers For Tires

In 1930 veterinarian Dr. Floyd Myers opened the doors of his first service station in downtown Gladwin. He treated his animals next door and also served as Mayor and Gladwin County Sheriff. From the mid 1930's to 1978, Ralph Myers operated and made several changes to the station, which in 1932 included selling Sunoco gasoline and installing the first hydraulic lift in Gladwin County. In 1942 he began selling Firestone tires. In the 1950's he added an a Firestone Home and Appliance store as well as a gas station on Main Street. In the 1960's he added 3 service bays and a drive-through car wash. With another addition in the 1970's, Myers became the first pipe bender in the county and one of the first Maxi-Muffler dealers further expanding their growing business. In 1978, Joe Myers ( Grandson of Dr. Floyd Myers ) began running the family business, and in 1984 Myers became a full line Auto Value parts store. Joe has since relocated the business to its current location where Myers currently employs 20 full and part-time employees. In 2004, an additional 2 service bays were added for a total of 11 bays with the latest technology and technical equipment. In 2005 he added a new line of Performance items and Accessories. Three years later Myers added another service bay bringing the total to 12 and over 3000 square feet of showroom space including a new parts and service counter, customer lounge and additional parking. This year MYERS for TIRES is proud to be celebrating 80 years of automotive service to the people of Mid Michigan.
