Girard Township, established on March 7, 1834, is located in Coldwater, Michigan, and was formed from parts of Coldwater and Prairie River Townships. Named after the Philadelphia millionaire Stephen Girard, it was the fourth township organized in Branch County, with its first meetings held in residents' homes.

The Girard Township Hall, built in 1893, continues to serve as the meeting place for the Township Board, which convenes on the first Monday of each month. The township is bordered by Calhoun County to the north and the townships of Butler, Coldwater, and Union to the east, south, and west, respectively.
