VITEC was honored as a General Motors Supplier of the Year in 2003. Founded in 1998, VITEC is located in the Detroit Empowerment Zone on the property of the former Cadillac Motor Division. VITEC, which is an acronym for Vision Innovation Technology Entrepreneurial Customer Satisfaction, manufactures and supplies fuel delivery systems to the automotive industry. The company uses computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering software to design and manufacture its plastic fuel tanks. The software minimizes the overall product development time and cost from initial design concept to mass production. Plastic fuel tanks are 20-30 percent lighter than conventional steel tanks. VITEC, a minority business enterprise, is a joint venture partner of TI Automotive, a global supplier of fuel delivery and fluid carrying systems.
