Founded in 1973, the Saginaw County Commission on Aging is a county department that offers programs and services to meet the needs of the elderly. Located in Saginaw, Mich., the department operates the Meals on Wheels program, which includes the serving of evening snacks and nutritional meals for home-bound senior citizens. Its case management services include in-home care and housing and financial assistance. The Saginaw County Commission on Aging also offers transportation services to treatment clinics, shopping malls and other facilities. In addition, the department organizes field trips and tea parties for senior citizens. The Saginaw County Commission on Aging provides medical assistance and counseling services, as well as handles legislative issues. The department operates various senior citizen centers that provide recreational activities.
