Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates is a nonprofit multispecialty medical group practice, headquartered in Boston and with more than 10 locations in and around Greater Boston. Established in 1997, it is also a major teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School and many of its physicians are involved in teaching the Harvard Medical School students and residents. Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates was formed by merger of the Harvard Community Health Plan and Harvard Pilgrim. It also offers cosmetic and developmental consultation services, and has an educational assessment center and laboratory. Its specialty care offers more than 35 medical and surgical specialties to meet health care needs. Its care for women facility offers complete health services for every stage of a woman's life, including obstetrics and gynecology, family planning and reproductive endocrinology, and menopause management and hormone replacement therapies. It offers urgent care appointments during the evenings and weekends. Its nurses are available 24 hours a day to help with urgent medical questions and provide clinical advice over the phone.
