Alan N. Kanter & Associates, Inc has provided administrative services for qualified retirement plans of small employers in the Baltimore-Washington region for over 38 years. Our specialty is designing and implementing tax advantageous qualified retirement plans for small businesses and professional practices. We design, establish, and administer defined benefit plans as well as defined contributions plans, including age-weighted, new comparability, and 401 ( k ) plans. We are excited about our new opportunities to provide cash balance plans and 403 ( b ) plans to our clients via our affiliate companies.Today, via strategic associations with select platform providers, we can offer streamlined services to our clients. We assume the responsibility for the preparation of all tax reporting and other disclosure forms required for the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor, the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, the employer and the employees, as well as reconcile plan assets, allocate plan contributions, conduct IRS pension audits, etc. Currently we administer over 350 qualified plans, generally for employers with less than 100 employees. The majority of our clients are the professional practices of physicians, dentists, attorneys, and accountants. Our remaining clients are small businesses and small manufacturers.We take great pride in our ability to relieve the business owner of the majority of the responsibilities of maintaining a plan so that the plan is a true fringe ( and tax ) benefit instead of an administrative burden. We are an old-fashioned "hand-holding" service firm that always works in harmony with the client's CPA and other advisors.The majority of our business is generated from referrals by area accountants, attorneys, and investment advisors. In most cases, we perform initial consulting work, prepare proposals, and research questions in the qualified plan field at no charge when referred by a professional advisor.
