As a small firm, we recognize the importance of cost-efficient and timely service, and our efforts are assiduously tailored to our clients' needs and resources.Founder and President, Stephen Amitay Esq., has successfully represented large and small corporations, trade and member associations, technology and Internet companies, non-profit organizations and other clients on issues involving congressional appropriations, federal procurement, federal agency policy, homeland security, workplace and employer regulations, defense programs, intellectual property law, veterans care, managed care, Medicaid, pharmaceutical distribution, e-commerce, online entertainment, education, bankruptcy reform, and financial services.On behalf of small California company offering actuarial software and services to the IRS for use in insurance industry tax compliance, Mr. Amitay worked with the congressional tax writing and appropriations committees, the Department of Treasury, and the IRS to obtain funding and establish a pilot IRS insurance tax compliance program for which the company was awarded a multi-million dollar contract.Teaming with another small lobbying firm to represent a mid-sized Tennessee company manufacturing radiation detection equipment, Mr. Amitay worked with Tennessee congressional offices and committees with homeland security oversight to generate company meetings, briefings, demonstrations and congressional inquiries with homeland security, FBI, and Defense officials about the company's technology and products. These activities spurred intensive DHS testing and follow on procurement of company products. Mr. Amitay also helped secure defense appropriation funding earmarks for the evaluation and acquisition of the company's detection technology.For the world's largest association of security professional and investigators, Mr. Amitay worked with congressional offices, employer associations, business associations and others in two successful legislative efforts to repeal onerous provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act that were impacting workplace safety. Also, for this client and the entire security guard industry, Mr. Amitay assumed a point role in a successful lobbying effort to persuade Congress to pass legislation allowing FBI criminal history background checks on private security officers.
