The Steinhardt namesake landed in America when John George Steinhardt immigrated from Munich, Germany, through Ellis Island in 1927. Nearly 100 years later, his son, Jim, celebrates the tradition of old-world Bavarian and Belgian-style beer. Wife, and co-owner Daria, has her own history with German and Belgium beers passed on from her father, Harry Putnam, who came to appreciate them while the family was stationed near Nuremberg, Germany. Our love affair with beer, and the frequent requests from friends and family for Jim's home brews, led to our decision to begin a small commercial brewing operation in our detached garage in Braddock Heights in 2014.
