With offices in La Plata and Leonardtown, Md., the Center for Children is a private, nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive mental health services to children and their families. It offers services to clients in Charles, St. Mary's, Calvert and lower Prince George's counties in Maryland. The center utilizes more than 500 volunteers a year who assist with its annual golf tournament, its CASA and Friends Indeed Mentoring programs, office projects and supervised visitation. The Center for Children offers a variety of crisis intervention, mentoring, information and referral, community education, and individual, group, play and family therapies. It also provides the assessment and evaluation of children, psychological and psychiatric testing, and new and teenage family support and education.
