David Hurwitz, MD

Graduated with honors from Baylor College of Medicine in 1978, Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Alabama Teaching Hospitals (1979 - 1981), Masters of Business Administration from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School in 2007.Private practice of Internal Medicine in Columbia, SC until joining faculty in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology in 1995. Clinical concentration on caring for older adults with complex health needs in the office and hospital settings. Academic concentration on teaching, program development in education and clinical care.Roles in the Division included Fellowship Program Director (2003 - 2006), Clinical Director and Director of Education (2004 - 2008), Interim Director of the Division (2008 - 2009) and Director, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology. In 2020 became Executive Vice Chair for the Department of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, and 2021 Director of the Department of Medicine for the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, both positions he holds currently.

Dr. Dulce Cruz-Oliver is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include internal medicine, geriatrics and palliative medicine. She earned her M.D. from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at University District Hospital and performed a fellowship at Saint Louis University Hospital. Dr. Cruz-Oliver joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2017.

Dr. Ariel Green is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include geriatric medicine and general internal medicine, with a particular interest in reducing use of potentially harmful medications in older adults. Dr. Green earned her medical degree, Master of Public Health and PhD in Clinical Investigation from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and performed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins. Her research, supported by the National Institute on Aging, is evaluating the impact on patient and caregiver outcomes of pragmatic interventions to optimize prescribing for older adults with dementia in primary care.Dr. Green is a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Drug Safety and Effectiveness. She is also a member of the American Geriatrics Society Clinical Practice and Models of Care Committee. She co-authored The American Geriatrics Society’s recommendations for Choosing Wisely, a national initiative that aims to promote conversations between patients and doctors about avoiding unhelpful medical tests and treatments.A former journalist, Dr. Green has published personal essays and op-eds in Annals of Internal Medicine, The Washington Post, and The New York Times, among other publications. She has been recognized with several awards, including the American Geriatrics Society Choosing Wisely Champion Award.
