Bipasha Mukherjee-Clavin, MD

Dr. Shiv Saidha specializes in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), as well as other neuroimmunological disorders of the central nervous system, including those afflicting the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Dr. Saidha received his medical degree, as well as his postgraduate Doctor of Medicine, from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), Ireland. He completed residency training in general internal medicine at Galway University Hospitals, Ireland. Subsequent to this he completed residency training in neurology at Galway, Cork, and Beaumont (located in Dublin) University Hospitals, Ireland. He then completed a further three years of specialized fellowship training in neuroimmunology & neuroinfectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland.Dr. Saidha’s research interests to date have predominantly focused on the non-invasive interrogation of retinal structures using optical coherence tomography (OCT) in multiple sclerosis (MS), in order to identify and investigate novel outcome strategies for assessing and monitoring neuroprotection and neurorestoration in MS, as well as to further our understanding of the pathobiology of MS, including how retinal pathology in MS may be related to more global central nervous system disturbances. He has been at the fore of discovering and demonstrating that inner and outer retinal layer pathology occur within the unmyelinated retina in MS (both quantitatively and qualitatively). He is committed to continuing to delineate and ascertain the mechanisms involved in the development of these findings, the clinical relevance of these changes (both locally in the retina, as well as more globally), and determine if this information may be used to guide the development of new, and potentially unique/novel effective MS therapies. His work to date has been primarily structurally focused (both within the retina using OCT, as well as more globally within the central nervous system through the assessment of brain substructure volumes, diffusion tensor imaging & magnetization transfer ratio metrics within specific pathways in MS). He also has expertise in the functional assessment of the anterior visual pathway in MS through the application of multifocal electroretinography and pupillometry techniques amongst others. He has published first author papers in Lancet, Lancet Neurology, Brain, Neurology, JAMA neurology, Archives of Neurology and Multiple Sclerosis Journal amongst authors.

Arens Taga is a neurologist specializing in neuromuscular diseases, with a particular focus on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neuron diseases. His clinical work aims to improve the quality of care for patients with ALS through biomarker-based, precision medicine approaches that refine disease stratification and facilitate more targeted and efficient enrollment in clinical trials. As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Taga uses patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells to model ALS, uncover novel disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets that are translatable to clinical trials. In recognition of his work in ALS, Dr. Taga was awarded the 2025 Richard Olney Clinician Scientist Development Award, which honors early-career physician-scientists dedicated to advancing ALS research. Dr. Taga earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma, Italy, where he also completed his neurology residency. He subsequently trained at The Johns Hopkins University, completing a postdoctoral research fellowship in the neuromuscular division, an internal medicine internship, a neurology residency and a neuromuscular clinical fellowship.

Daniel Lubelski is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with expertise in complex spine surgery and peripheral nerve surgery. He treats patients with spinal diseases and deformities, spine and nerve tumors, and brachial plexus injuries and other peripheral nerve injuries.Dr. Lubelski’s training in complex and robotic spine surgery, spinal oncology and peripheral nerve injuries allows him to comprehensively evaluate patients and develop custom treatment plans to address symptoms and improve patients’ quality of life. He prioritizes patient-centered care, effective communication and working in multidisciplinary collaboration to identify the best treatment.After obtaining his undergraduate degree at the City University of New York, Dr. Lubelski spent a year doing predoctoral research at the National Institutes of Health. He then obtained his medical degree from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and he performed stem cell tumor research as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute fellow. Dr. Lubelski went on to the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for a neurosurgery residency and an enfolded fellowship in peripheral nerve surgery. His postdoctoral training also included a fellowship in complex spine surgery and spinal oncology at Johns Hopkins, as well as a traveling fellowship with advanced training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center.Dr. Lubelski is a prolific researcher who focuses on patient quality of life and on using big data to develop individualized prediction models to determine optimal treatments tailored to each person. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and numerous textbook chapters, has lectured nationally and internationally, and serves as a reviewer for the top neurosurgical journals.
