A retired U.S. Air Force colonel and the recipient of numerous military service and achievement medals, Dr. Satin earned his medical degree at the F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda and completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.Before joining Johns Hopkins, Satin was a professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at his medical school alma mater, where he received multiple Outstanding Clinical Teacher Awards and other accolades. He also served as an attending physician at both the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.He holds several national leadership positions, including president of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and member of the board of the directors of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has served as chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committees on Practice Bulletins and Clinical Document Review. He has published many articles in obstetrics and maternal-fetal medicine journals and written numerous textbook chapters. Satin, who also conducts extensive research in labor stimulation, has led countless residents through simulation laboratories and directed simulation courses for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Paul M. Hassoun, M.D., is professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the director of the pulmonary hypertension program at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He served as the ATS Pulmonary Circulation chair (2011-2012) and on the ATS Publications Policy Committee. He was recently elected president of the Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute (PVRI; 2018-2019).Dr. Hassoun has held numerous editorial activities including serving on the editorial board of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Medicine (2010 to present), CHEST (2006-2015) and the European Respiratory Review (2008-2015). He currently serves as associate editor of the European Respiratory Journal (2013-present) and has served as associate editor for the Journal of Clinical Investigation (2017-2022).
