The Portland Police Department is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. Located in Portland, Maine, it maintains the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), which deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals. The Portland Police Department also has a K-9 division that handles issues related to drug intervention, tracking, and search for persons, buildings and evidence.
