If you are looking for an unpretentious, non-factory, skier and rider centric experience with ripping terrain then discover the Mt. Abram Resort, 5 miles south of Bethel, Maine Village. Mt. Abram offers a full range of amenities at reasonable prices. Abram's "come as you are culture" has been providing memorable downhill experiences since 1960. The mountain boasts 44 trails of all ability terrain, five lifts, jib park and Maine's first "Boundary to Boundary" ski policy which sky-rocketed the skiable and rideable area from 250 acres of trails to 550 acres of trails, glades, tree lines and powder stashes that humble some of the most experienced skiers and riders. The mountain's 1, 150-foot vertical drop ranges from gentle novice slopes to double black diamonds and exciting tree runs with over half the trails here are ranked intermediate or up, and expert riders and skiers will find plenty of challenges on black diamond trails like Rocky's Run, Fearless, and The Cliff. Snowboarders and Telemarkers relish the well dispersed skiing and gladed runs of Zephyr or The Zone where carved broad turns are just a lift away. The Freestyle Park has been relocated and re-caffeinated for the 2010/2011 ski season and is located an easy distance from the Main Lodge, supplementing the many hits and natural elements throughout the mountain. The Resort's "Westside", served by the "Skyline Chair" and the "Sawicki", an easy to use surface lift, is home to the East's most fabulous "Learn 2" topography. The Westside is comprised of three, long, friendly slopes, including Skyline Drive, Westside's signature run feeding beginning and easy-riding skiers and boarders to the cozy confines of the Westside Lodge. The Mt. Abram Snow School is well known among generations of Maine families - ask almost anyone who grew up in Maine and they'll tell you that this is where they learned to ski. Instructors throughout New England comment on Abram's teaching terrain. Lessons (group, private and semi-private) are offered in all disciplines (alpine, boarding and telemark) and the instructors know how to make learning fun. Lessons are carefully paced, allowing each student to progress at a rate that ensures an enjoyable experience. Learn to ski or ride packages include lesson, ticket and rentals for beginners. Off the slopes warm up by the fire in the Resort's Westside Lodge or enjoy Ski Country's Slope Side Apr s-Ski venue at the Loose Boots Lounge. Full Restaurant fare is served daily at 11am and 10: 30am on Sunday and the fun continues well past last chair. Apr s Ski Music is heard every Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 6pm. Mt.
