The City of New Iberia Wastewater Department is responsible for the sanitary sewage collection, transfer, and treatment needs of over 33,000 city users and 1,500 parish users. The department operates two wastewater treatment facilities, 120 miles of sewer line, 2,200 manholes, and 75 pump stations to ensure effective wastewater management.
The newly constructed Sucrose Drive Treatment Plant, commissioned in early 2007, is designed to treat an average daily flow of 6 million gallons per day. Additionally, the Parker Street Plant, also known as the Tete Bayou Plant, is jointly owned with the Iberia Parish Sewerage District No. 1 and has a capacity of 2.5 million gallons per day.
