The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation is a private, nonprofit organization that is located in Baton Rouge, La. The organization serves farmers, ranchers, landowners, agricultural lenders and individuals who have a vested interest in the future and prosperity of Louisiana agriculture. Established in 1922, the organization raises various agricultural issues; speaks on behalf of farmers and ranchers at local, state and national levels; and attempts to influence legislation by getting inputs from farmers and ranchers on specific issues. The organization operates various departments, such as legislative affairs, field services, women s committee, young farmers and ranchers, media and public relations, natural resources and safety, commodity and marketing. It also has various subsidiaries, including the Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies. The Louisiana Farm Bureau is part of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
