University Health Service, based in Lexington, Ky., provides preventive and primary health care and education to the students and other members of the University of Kentucky and Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Kentucky. The institution's physicians are board certified in family practice, internal medicine, gynecology, psychiatry, emergency medicine and occupational medicine. Its nurse practitioners are certified in family medicine, gynecology and psychiatry. University Health Service offers a number of health education programs to students, such as smoking cessation, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, stress management and sexual health issues. It also provides information on health insurance, policies regarding confidentiality of patient records and information regarding the rights of patients. The institution is approved by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
