Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization that is licensed by the welfare department of Kentucky for child care and placement. The organization is a member of the Catholic Charities USA, United Way and Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. Located in Covington, Ky., Catholic Charities offers individual and family counseling services that are provided to children, adolescents, adults and families. The organization supports substance abuse programs that include nonmedical substance abuse treatment and educational services. Its pregnancy counseling services offers support, education about parenting options, community referrals and counseling for women. Catholic Charities also provides volunteer and support services that are offered to develop and coordinate activities for volunteers.

For more than 15 years, First Step Home Inc. has been an agency that provides individual and group substance abuse counseling for women and children. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the agency provides access to medical services, mental health assessments, life skills training, financial counseling, on-site child care, twelve step meetings and connections to job readiness programs. The programs help women become self-sufficient and gain the ability to live a drug-free life with their children. For children aged 0 to 12 who live with their mothers at the facility, the center offers a comprehensive child and family development program. After the treatment women can move into transitional housing, supervised by First Step Home Inc.
