Hospice of the Bluegrass

Established in 1978, Hospice of the Bluegrass provides hospice and palliative care to more than 800 terminally ill patients and their families. It is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and is a Medicare- and Medicaid-certified firm. The firm employs home health care aides who offer personal care assistance with grooming, bathing and dressing. Its staff also includes physicians, nurses, chaplains, dentists, and speech, physical and occupational therapists. In addition, the firm provides support and bereavement services. With a location in Frankfort, Ky., it offers a pediatric care program that treats patients suffering from cancer, AIDS, neuromuscular diseases, respiratory and neurodegenerative disorders. The firm has other branches in Lexington, Fort Thomas, Hazard, Harlan, Nicholasville and Cynthiana, Ky.
