Grider Furniture Tradition After serving his country in the U.S. Army, George Grider founded Grider Furniture in 1948. When the store opened, there weren't nearly as many furniture stores in Kentucky as there are today. But George had a strategy that would ensure a successful business for many years, regardless of his competition. It was a simple philosophy: offer the finest quality furniture at affordable prices. He did this by establishing relationships with a network of furniture manufacturers throughout the Southeast. This network allowed him to provide high quality, beautiful furniture to his customers at surprisingly low prices. George continued this philosophy for 45 years. George passed away in 1993, leaving his son Lewis to manage the store. Lewis has carried on the tradition started by his father. "Uncommon furniture for the common man" is more than a slogan, it's exactly what you'll find when you walk in the door.
