International Forest of Friendship

The International Forest of Friendship in Atchison, KS is a living memorial celebrating the history of aviation and aerospace. Established in 1976 as a bicentennial project by the city and The Ninety-Nines Inc., this unique forest honors women pilots and aviators from across the globe.

Each September, new honorees are inducted, with stones placed along a winding walkway that features trees representing all 50 states and over 35 countries. The forest not only commemorates aviation history but also invites visitors to learn and engage with its rich legacy.
